Curious case of a movie

I went to see Benjamin Button today and enjoyed it thoroughly. A couple of thoughts:

First, Eric Roth does a good job again with the screenplay. For those of you who don't know Roth translated Winston Groom's Forrest Gump to the big screen back in 1994. Here, Roth does a good job translating the F. Scott Fitzgerald short story although some plot elements don't match between the two mediums.

Second, the Brad Pitt-David Fincher combination makes good again. They teamed up a few years ago with the movie Seven.

And third, the stop-motion capture special effects are convincing, especially in early scenes where we see a young Pitt character (or is it old?) in childlike form.

Incredible, entertaining movie.

The Wrestler

I give it
one...
two...
Three thumbs up.

Good job by Mickey Rourke in a role that perhaps reflects the course of his own life and career decisions.

Coincidence about a library school friend

I just learned this past week that a library school friend has taken a position with the library system in Denver. Also, I learned she has moved to an area in Denver that's about four or five blocks away from the church where my Dad preached.

Life's simple coincidences!!!
