Follow-up on previous blog post

I did not spend the bulk of my day in Madison as I anticipated this morning. Through mere happenstance plus the fact I am on vacation and plans change quickly, I decided to spend a large portion of the day at the House on the Rock near Dodgeville, WI.

The architecture was fantastic and the museum set-up was fantastic. But, the exhibits began to bore me toward the end of the day. After stopping by the gift shop for my mandatory frig magnets, I made a quick trip to Madison and browsed a couple antique shops before making the drive back to Dubuque and dinner at a mom-and-pop Mexican restaurant.

Thursday, I make the drive back home with stops in the Amanas and Des Moines planned.

Antiquing in Madison

I decided to drive to Madison on Wednesday. The Wisconsin Travel website showed four antique shops to visit and I will see if I can find a collectible or two. I will then work my way back to Dubuque visiting antique shops and other places. And if daylight allows, I will make a quick trip to Galena.

Week of Vacation

I decided to take this first full week of October as vacation. I decided to do a little road trip up to SW Wisconsin and check out some of the sights there: perhaps some antiques shops, novelty shops. I will stay at a hotel in Dubuque, IA and use that as a home base. I should be back late Thursday evening.
