Time to kill the clover

I just got done mowing my lawn. I'm taking a break to read some blogs and do a little Facebook time but, eventually, I'm planning to go outside and begin killing the clover that's encroached on my back lawn.
Next week, I'm planning to aerate what's left of my lawn and will plant grass seed soon.

So, in the next couple weeks, I expect my yard to sort of look like a checkerboard grassy squares here and bare-remove-the-clover squares there.

Projects around the home

I've been getting into the projects-for-the-home mode lately. This past Saturday, I installed a new mail box at my curb. The old one fell into shambles because of weather-wear and I made the decision to replace it.
Today, I'm having the three big oak trees in my yard trimmed.
And soon, I plan to replace the clover-infested backyard with fresh grass seed--another big project.

Playing around with Jing and Screencast.com

Well with the rain showers tonight, I could not go outside and work in the yard. So, I decided to play around with Jing (a computer-screen capture software) and Screencast.com (an open source web page broadcasting host). I did this tutorial in improv fashion, but I trust this is something that most libraries with database services can embrace. Click on the image below:

Greetings from Topeka

I just completed the 2009 NEKLS Tech Day. This year's focus was on Open Source software and why libraries should use them. My favorite part of the day was the lightning presentations by various librarians depicting some sites that may come in handy.

I'm currently sitting at a Topeka Library computer absorbing how they handle their public PC situation as compared to KCKPL.
