How much caffeine is too much caffeine?

The Mayo Clinic gives a web page about common beverages and the amount of caffeine in them. I write this knowing of my now year-and-a-half Starbucks morning routine, JG going to the coffee pot in the employee breakroom, MP and his multiple cans of Diet Pepsi One nucleic acid, and Haworth Hiker's mere thought of drinking a caramelicious from Scooter's coffeehouse.

Click here for the Mayo Clinic's caffeine study.

As for me and my caffeine consumption: Guilty, as charged, your honor.

More practice with audio and the web

Thanks for your patience. I have been experimenting with two programs tonight both made available through the web: Audacity and Odeo. I believe both to be key steps on my way to learning to podcast. Tonight's audio entry is lacking for substance, but I hope nonetheless that what I'm doing promotes the idea podcasting as well as vlogging in a public library web page environment.

Thanks to AN, SS, and company for a good night of dancing and company.

Now....let's see if I can survive my Thursday work day.

Appropriate use of podcasting???

Well, at least in Dewey's book it's appropriate. I have been following Unshelved all week. The storyline strikes a nerve.

A-ha! Moment

I had a couple of A-ha! moments at work today. One of which, due to professional decorum, I won't blog about.

The other, though, was when I showed a librarian from another branch about the Flickr website and its accompanying web site Flagrant Disregard. I showed her the entire range from the trading card maker to the slide show maker providing demos to her with each tool.

I even showed her the slide show I created from the BookFix discussion group.

Step by step, I believe our library system is moving toward incorporating the Library 2.0 philosophy. Ain't technology great!!!

It now officially runs in the family

New Flash: I just got a phone call from my sister. She just landed a job as a librarian assistant at one of Lawrence's grade schools. Needless to say, I am very happy with this news.
I am guessing the three years of volunteer work in the grade school (while doubling as a stay at home mom) paid off for her.

Way to go sis!!! I'm very proud!!!

Supervisor goes to bat for our branch

Quick Note: My supervisor informed me that she is going to speak with the powers-that-be and find out why the computer lab does not have the VendPrint software installed. We need it, especially since I throw tons of wasted paper into the recycling bin on a weekly basis.

Textbooks

Saturday's edition of Unshelved struck a chord in me as I fielded about four questions in the past two weeks concerning textbooks and whether we could get them on Interlibrary loan. Apparently, a lot of college students are trying to avoid paying for expensive textbooks.....and I don't blame them.

Unfortunately, the kid would pay as much to copy the textbook.
