Schlitterbahn's A-comin'

This afternoon two representatives from Schlitterbahn Water Parks came to our library to assemble a display in the entry way. The display shows how much land Schlitterbahn will take up once it is built in the projected 3 to 3 1/2 years. To accommodate the construction, the Wyandotte County Fairgrounds will be demolished and moved elsewhere and I'm not sure whether a fire station on State Avenue will remain or not. And 99th Street will be complete reconstructed to handle Schlitterbahn as well as Nebraska Furniture Mart, Cabellas, and Race traffic.
Anyway, KCK, the area I serve as a librarian, is becoming a place of destination. I do believe the folks from Jackson County, MO can learn from this. If they are not careful, WYCO might add a new sports stadium or two.
